Spirits in My Closet: Socio-Geopolitical Symbolism of Ties

The project “Spirits in My Closet,” both sculpture and performative documentations, is part of my studio practice on the materiality of wrapping.  Here I examine the persistent and transferable energy and messages, otherwise hidden in plain sight, that are embedded in repurposed materials. The sculptural piece is made of my husband ties and books, two(2) kitchen stools and fabric to address current environmental issues and social injustice. The performative documentation of this project is ongoing. "Spirits in My Closet" part of the exhibition, The Coral Reef Principle, curated by SHIM-Eco, is currently showing at Ursa Gallery until March 2022.
